Senior Database Administrator at TensorGo in New Delhi

Job Summary

• We are looking for an experienced Database Administrator (DBA) with strong hands-on expertise in PostgreSQL and Microsoft SQL Server.
• The candidate will be responsible for database administration, performance monitoring, backup and recovery, patching, security, troubleshooting, and ensuring database availability and reliability.

Key Responsibilities

• Install, configure, administer, and maintain PostgreSQL and MS SQL Server databases.
• Perform regular database backup, restore, and recovery activities.
• Monitor backup jobs and ensure successful completion and data integrity.
• Plan and execute database patching, upgrades, and version updates.
• Troubleshoot database-related issues, performance problems, and connectivity issues.
• Monitor database health, availability, storage, CPU, memory, and disk utilization.
• Perform database performance tuning and optimization.
• Manage database users, roles, permissions, and security.
• Monitor and manage database growth, capacity, and storage requirements.
• Handle database incidents and provide timely resolution.
• Perform database maintenance activities such as indexing, statistics updates, and housekeeping.
• Support High Availability (HA), Disaster Recovery (DR), and business continuity requirements.
• Maintain database documentation, operational procedures, and configuration records.
• Coordinate with application, infrastructure, and security teams for database-related activities.
• Participate in planned maintenance, change management, and production deployments.
• Ensure databases comply with organizational security and operational standards.

Required Technical Skills

PostgreSQL

• Strong administration experience with PostgreSQL.
• Backup and recovery using PostgreSQL tools.
• Database monitoring and performance tuning.
• User, role, and permission management.
• PostgreSQL patching and upgrades.
• Troubleshooting database issues and replication-related problems.

MS SQL Server

• Strong administration experience with Microsoft SQL Server.
• Backup and restore, including Full, Differential, and Transaction Log backups.
• SQL Server patching and upgrades.
• Performance monitoring and troubleshooting.
• Database maintenance and index management.
• User, role, and permission management.
• SQL Server Agent jobs and maintenance jobs.
• Knowledge of HA/DR concepts such as Always On, Log Shipping, and Failover is preferred.

Backup & Recovery

• Manage and monitor regular database backup schedules.
• Perform backup validation and restore testing.
• Troubleshoot failed backup jobs.
• Support disaster recovery and database restoration activities.
• Ensure backup retention and recovery requirements are followed.
• Participate in periodic DR drills and recovery testing.

Patching & Maintenance

• Plan and execute database OS/DB patching and upgrades.
• Perform pre-patching health checks and backup validation.
• Coordinate downtime and maintenance activities with relevant teams.
• Perform post-patching validation and ensure database/application connectivity.
• Maintain patching and maintenance documentation.
