Job Description
Summary: Teledyne Technologies Incorporated provides enabling technologies for industrial growth markets that require advanced technology and high reliability. They are seeking a Mechanical Engineer Intern who will research, plan, and design mechanical and electromechanical products and systems, and coordinate activities involved in their fabrication and operation.
Responsibilities:
- Researches and analyzes data such as customer design proposal, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or application
- Designs products or systems such as instruments, controls, robots, engines, machines, and mechanical, thermal, hydraulic, or heat transfer systems
- May plan and direct other engineers in fabrication of equipment, and development of methods and procedures for testing products or systems
- Directs and coordinates fabrication and installation activities to ensure products and systems conform to engineering design and customer specifications
- Coordinates operation, maintenance, and repair activities to obtain optimum utilization of machines and equipment
- Designs products and systems to interface machines, hardware, and software
- Evaluates field installations and recommends design modifications to eliminate machine or system malfunctions
- Daily availability to include evenings and weekends when necessary to reach goals and deadlines
Required Qualifications:
- Has recently completed or is currently enrolled in a four-year college or university in a related field
- Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations
- Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and procedure manuals
- Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers, and the general public
- Ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference, and fundamentals of plane and solid geometry and trigonometry
- Ability to apply trigonometry, calculus and statistics for design, analysis and problem solving
- Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form
- Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations
- To perform this job successfully, an individual should be knowledgeable in using software conducive to presenting analytical results, such as charts, graphs, and presentations using Excel, PowerPoint, Access, etc
- Active Government Security Clearance
- US Citizenship with ability to attain/maintain government security clearance
- Ability to travel (domestically/internationally) approximately +/-10%
Preferred Qualifications:
- Basic Knowledge of ISO and/or AS9100
- Working knowledge of Lean Manufacturing/6 Sigma/Kaizen
- Knowledge of specific software (design, analysis, ERP…)
