Job Description
Summary: TAS Energy is a Houston-headquartered company specializing in innovative packaged modular systems. The Process Improvement Intern will support the Process Improvement department by assisting in process improvement initiatives, analyzing operational data, and collaborating with cross-functional teams.
Responsibilities:
- Support process improvement initiatives within manufacturing, operations, or business processes
- Assist in documenting current-state processes using flowcharts, process maps, and standard work
- Collect and analyze operational data (cycle time, throughput, defects, downtime, etc.)
- Identify inefficiencies and improvement opportunities using data and observations
- Support Lean, Six Sigma, or continuous improvement projects
- Participate in root cause analysis (e.g., 5 Whys, Fishbone)
- Assist with implementing and tracking process improvements and KPIs
- Prepare reports, dashboards, and presentations summarizing findings and results
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (engineering, manufacturing, quality, supply chain)
- Other duties as assigned by TAS
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's degree in Industrial Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Business Analytics, Computer Science, or a related field
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Ability to work with data and draw actionable insights
- Basic understanding of process improvement concepts (Lean, Six Sigma, BPR, PDCA, DMAIC)
- Proficiency in Microsoft Excel
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to work independently and in a team environment
- Attention to detail and organizational skills
- Willingness to learn and adapt in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Coursework or exposure to Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement
- Coursework or exposure to Statistics or Data Analysis
- Coursework or exposure to Operations or Process Design
- Prior internship, project, or coursework related to process improvement
