Role & responsibilities

Role purpose

Develop and validate engine and ECU calibrations that meet performance, drivability, fuel-efficiency, emissions, OBD and after-treatment targets.

Key responsibilities

• Develop, optimise and release engine and ECU calibration datasets and maps.
• Conduct testbed and vehicle calibration for performance, combustion, fuel economy, emissions and drivability.
• Use ETAS INCA, CAN and diagnostic protocols to acquire data, tune parameters and investigate issues.
• Support OBD, SCR and after-treatment calibration and validation activities.
• Analyse test results, document calibration changes and coordinate with controls, testing and design teams.

Essential skills

• Hands-on engine or ECU calibration experience using ETAS INCA or an equivalent calibration environment.
• Working knowledge of CAN, UDS, testbeds, combustion and emissions.
• Exposure to OBD, SCR or after-treatment systems.
• Capability in calibration data analysis and structured technical reporting.

Preferred experience

• MATLAB or Simulink experience and familiarity with AVL tools.
• Commercial vehicle, diesel-engine or heavy-duty powertrain calibration experience.
• Experience across both engine testbed and vehicle-level calibration.

Screening exclusions

• Software-only or diagnostics-only profiles without hands-on calibration ownership.
• Engine testing profiles with no evidence of ECU map tuning or calibration-tool usage.
• Candidates outside 3 to 6 years of total experience.
