Job Description
Summary: Symbotic is an automation technology leader reimagining the supply chain with its end-to-end, AI-powered robotic and software platform. We are seeking a hands-on Test Engineer to design, build, and deploy manufacturing test solutions for complex electromechanical systems, working closely with hardware, software, manufacturing, and supplier teams to ensure robust test coverage and high product quality.
Responsibilities:
- Design and develop manufacturing test fixtures, including electrical, mechanical, and system-level integration
- Create and debug schematics and PCBAs for test hardware, including bring-up, validation, and rework
- Develop and maintain automated test software (Python/C#/LabVIEW) for functional, parametric, and diagnostic testing
- Perform hands-on debugging of PCBA, test fixtures, and system-level failures using lab equipment
- Support deployment and sustainment of test systems at Contract Manufacturers (CMs), including troubleshooting and training
- Analyze test data, yield trends, and failure modes to drive quality improvements and cost reduction
Required Qualifications:
- BS in Electrical, Mechanical, Robotics, or Electromechanical Engineering (or equivalent experience)
- 1–3+ years of hands-on experience in manufacturing test, hardware validation, or fixture development
- Proficient in 3D CAD tools (SolidWorks preferred) and creation of detailed engineering drawings
- experience in designing and building mechanical fixtures or automation systems
- Strong experience with schematics, PCBA design, and board-level debugging
- Experience building test fixtures (power systems, relays, mux, DAQ, signal routing)
- Proficiency in test automation programming (Python preferred; C#/LabVIEW a plus)
- Hands-on experience with test equipment (oscilloscope, DMM, power supply, logic analyzer)
- Familiarity with embedded systems and communication protocols (CAN, UART, Ethernet)
- Experience working with Contract Manufacturers (CMs) or production environments
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with modular/scalable test platforms across multiple products
- Exposure to robotics systems, motors, sensors, or industrial automation
- Experience with SQL/database logging and test data analytics
- Familiarity with DFT (Design for Test), DFM/DFA, and manufacturing processes
