About the role:
As a Data Manager, you will support the effective management and governance of data within a renewable energy environment, helping to improve the quality, consistency and accessibility of business-critical information.
Working closely with business and technical stakeholders, you will help develop and implement a centralised approach to managing data, supporting data governance, quality and standardisation across multiple data sources.
The role will involve working collaboratively with project, engineering, environmental and operational teams to understand their data requirements and ensure information is managed effectively throughout its lifecycle. You will also support data management solutions and associated systems, helping to improve how data is structured, maintained and used across the organisation.
As a Data Manager, you will:
Support the development and implementation of a centralised data repository for renewable energy generation data
Develop and maintain data governance standards and processes
Support the definition of data ownership and stewardship responsibilities
Work with business and technical stakeholders to understand and document data requirements
Support the design, implementation and integration of data management solutions and associated systems
Help improve data quality, consistency and standardisation across multiple data sources
Support data migration, validation and ongoing data maintenance activities
Contribute to the development of data models, metadata standards and reporting frameworks
Support effective master and reference data management practices
Work collaboratively with project, engineering, environmental and operational teams to improve the management and use of business-critical data
Identify opportunities to improve data management processes and capabilities.
Experience working within data management, data governance or information management
A good understanding of data governance principles and practices
Knowledge of master and reference data management
Experience of data quality management and improvement
Understanding of metadata management and data lifecycle principles
Experience working with stakeholders to gather and understand data requirements
Experience supporting data management solutions, system implementations, migrations or integrations
An understanding of data integration and ETL processes
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
The ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders
The ability to manage multiple priorities and work collaboratively across different teams
Desirable experience:
- Experience within the energy, utilities, infrastructure or engineering sectors
- An understanding of asset, engineering, environmental or project data
- Experience working with database technologies such as SQL Server, Azure SQL, PostgreSQL or similar
- Familiarity with enterprise asset management systems such as IBM Maximo
- Knowledge of information governance standards such as ISO 9001 or ISO 27001
