Job Description
Summary: Surfline is seeking a motivated undergraduate student to join their Content team as a part-time Video Archive & Editing Intern for Summer 2026. In this role, you will gain hands-on experience with surf media, collaborating closely with the Video Programming Manager to organize and maintain a large-scale media library while building skills in video editing and media management.
Responsibilities:
- Maintain and organize historical and archival Surfline footage
- Catalog video files including; file names, formats, locations, metadata, etc
- Identify duplicate, missing, or inaccessible files and flag issues for the team
- Learn established workflows and documentation standards
- Audit and document Surfline’s legacy video server assets
- Assist in the creation of organizational structure for an inventory of media assets; including file locations, accessibility status and more
- Support the content team on a real-world media operations project
- Deliver final documentation that can be used by the video team for future access
- Utilize excel to create a structured inventory of the media library
Required Qualifications:
- Current student enrolled in Film, Media Studies, Communications, or a related field
- Highly detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and attention to detail
- Comfortable working with large volumes of files and structured data
- Basic familiarity with video file types and formats (ex: .mp4, .mov)
- Ability to follow processes with consistency and accuracy
- Strong written communication skills for documentation
- Must be able to work within Pacific Time (PT) hours
Preferred Qualifications:
- Interest in surf culture or media production
- Familiarity with editing software and media asset management tools
- Basic experience with spreadsheets or databases
- Understanding of video codecs and production workflows
