This role is suited for a commercial risk‑taker with a demonstrated ability to generate P&L across market cycles by combining fundamental insight, price action, and disciplined risk management. The successful candidate will have a deep understanding of Western Canadian and North American light crude markets, strong commercial instincts, and the ability to operate across both physical barrels and paper markets.

Strong quantitative, analytical, and decision‑making skills under uncertainty
Don’t have all the qualifications listed? That’s ok! Apply anyway. We acknowledge the value of transferrable skills.
Responsibilities:
Own and deliver risk-adjusted P&L through active trading of physical and financial light crude, deploying capital across physical, swaps, basis, time spreads, and optionality
Develop, execute, and continuously refine discretionary and structured trading strategies, monetizing inefficiencies driven by flows, positioning, logistics, and sentiment
Originate and optimize physical crude flows and infrastructure positions (pipeline, storage, terminals), capturing arbitrage across location, quality, and time
Drive incremental value through integration and optimization of Suncor production and refining assets
Maintain independent, fundamentals-driven market views, integrating supply/demand, inventories, refinery activity, and forward structure into positioning decisions
Actively manage portfolio risk (VaR, liquidity, drawdown, position limits) with disciplined trade execution, clear communication, and adherence to risk/credit frameworks
Build and leverage a strong commercial and market network, while contributing to desk strategy and mentoring junior talent on trade desk
