Spring 2027 Internship - Software at Stoke Space in Kent, WA

Summary: Stoke Space Technologies is building a vibrant space economy through its innovative launch vehicle, Nova. As a Software Engineering Intern, you will work on real projects within various teams, contributing to the software lifecycle and gaining hands-on experience in a fast-paced environment. Responsibilities: - Work closely with your mentor and other employees who will help you apply your knowledge and grow your skills through high-impact projects - Contribute to the full software lifecycle, including design, implementation, testing, and deployment, in a fast-paced and iterative development environment - Own a chunk of software you take from design to running on the test stand in a fast-paced and iterative development environment - Convert real-time and post-launch data into analysis and insights that will help Stoke more effectively design and operate our launch products Required Qualifications: - Pursuing Bachelor's or Master's degree in mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, electrical engineering, computer engineering, computer science or a similar STEM field - Project-level experience with Python, C, or Rust - Exceptional command of engineering fundamentals - Hands-on engineering experience through internships, personal projects, work, or teams - Ability to manage a complex technical project and take it through execution - Ability to learn and apply state of the art techniques to technical projects - Excellent written and verbal communication - Able to work full-time, onsite for a minimum of 10-12 consecutive weeks - Proficient in JavaScript or TypeScript - Experience in front-end or back-end software development - Proficient in Rust or other systems languages (C/C++) - Experience with real-time systems - Excited by fast-paced, critical software operations - Proficient in Rust - Experience in front-end or back-end software development Preferred Qualifications: - Experience in 1 or more of the technologies utilized in our tech stack: TypeScript, React, Next.js, Apollo, Express.js, Node.js, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, AWS - Affinity for full-stack software development - Experience in embedded devices or autonomous systems - Experience with OS and kernel level work - Experience in 1 or more of the technologies utilized in our tech stack: AWS, Time Series Data, Svelte, WebGPU - Affinity for full-stack software development Required Skills: Python, C, Rust, Engineering fundamentals, JavaScript, TypeScript, Front-end software development, Back-end software development, React, Next.js, Apollo, Express.js, Node.js, GraphQL, PostgreSQL, AWS, other systems languages (C/C++), Real-time systems, Embedded devices, Autonomous systems, OS, kernel level work, Time Series Data, Svelte, WebGPU, Project management Internship Start Date: Start in 2027 Spring Benefits: 32 hours of paid time off, On-site gym (Kent, WA location), Complimentary snacks & refreshments available on-site, Company events with Leadership team, Mentorship from industry-leading engineers, Direct ownership of real rocket products
