Forensic Audit Executive at Sterling Oil Exploration in Nigeria

Role & responsibilities

• Conduct forensic audits and fraud investigations across EPC projects and mining operations.
• Review subcontractor billing, measurement sheets, and BOQ vs actual execution.
• Analyse project cost overruns, abnormal consumption, and variation orders.
• Verify contractor billing and identify inflated quantities or duplicate claims.
• Review mining production vs dispatch reconciliation and stock variances.
• Analyse fuel consumption of heavy equipment and identify pilferage risks.
• Evaluate equipment utilization, idle hours, and productivity anomalies.
• Review weighbridge controls, stockyard management, and material movement.
• Review contract labour payroll and identify anomalies.
• Identify risks related to fake production reporting and data manipulation.
• Conduct procurement and contract forensics including bid rigging and vendor collusion.
• Review quotation patterns, single vendor sourcing, and split purchase orders.
• Identify conflict of interest and suspicious vendor relationships.
• Perform data analytics to detect anomalies in vendor payments and consumption trends.
• Analyse duplicate invoices, unusual price trends, and payment irregularities.
• Evaluate internal controls across project and mining sites.
• Identify control gaps enabling fraud, leakage, or manipulation.
• Collect documentary and system-based audit evidence.
• Conduct interviews with employees, contractors, and site personnel.
• Track closure of audit observations and management action plans.
• Travel to project sites, mining locations, and operational yards as required.

Key Requirements
• 3-6 years experience in forensic audit / internal audit in EPC, mining, or infrastructure
• Strong understanding of project billing, mining operations, and procurement processes
• Experience in fraud investigation and red flag identification
• Strong data analytics skills (Advanced Excel; Power BI preferred)
• Good report writing and stakeholder communication skills
• Willingness to travel to remote project and mining sites
• Qualification: CA Inter / M.Com / MBA (Finance) or equivalent
