Job Description
Summary: The State of Wisconsin Investment Board (SWIB) is a premier global investment organization managing significant assets for the Wisconsin Retirement System. They are seeking a Software Engineering Intern to prototype creative solutions across various technologies while gaining exposure to real-world systems in a collaborative environment.
Responsibilities:
- Prototype and test new approaches to automation, APIs, front-end interfaces, and AI workflows
- Explore how AI can be embedded responsibly into software systems
- Build proofs-of-concept in Python that can evolve into production-ready solutions
- Collaborate with technical and non-technical teammates, sharing insights and discoveries
Required Qualifications:
- Ability to work in Madison, WI for an approximate 10-week period, beginning Summer of 2026
- Currently pursuing a degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related fields
- Strong foundation in Python and exposure to databases (SQL/NoSQL)
- Curiosity about cloud platforms and AI, with a drive to learn hands-on
- Ability to design solutions that are not just functional, but also scalable, maintain, secure and safe
- A track record of building projects that demonstrate creativity and thoughtful engineering
- Clear communication skills and collaborative mindset
