Job Description
Summary: The State of Nebraska is seeking motivated and curious interns to support a variety of information technology functions across the enterprise. Interns will assist with tasks such as data analysis, database maintenance, network monitoring, and project coordination to gain broad exposure to IT operations.
Responsibilities:
- Support data collection, analysis, reporting, and visualization efforts
- Assist with database maintenance, documentation, and data quality activities
- Support network monitoring, troubleshooting, and documentation
- Assist with cybersecurity tasks such as risk assessments, policy review, and security monitoring
- Assist with coding and/or testing in the full lifecycle of an application
- Assist with developing and/or updating content
- Support project coordination activities including scheduling, documentation, tracking deliverables, and stakeholder communication
- Participate in team meetings, training, and knowledge-sharing activities
- Perform other IT-related duties as assigned to support OCIO initiatives
Required Qualifications:
- Currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited college or university (two-to-four-year institution) OR recently graduated (within one year) from an undergraduate or graduate degree program at an accredited college or university (two-to-four-year institution)
Preferred Qualifications:
- Current enrollment in, or recent graduation from (within one year), an accredited college or university program related to Information Technology, Computer Science, Data Analytics, Cybersecurity, Business, or a related field
- Basic computer proficiency (Microsoft Office or similar tools)
- Coursework or experience related to data analysis, databases, networking, cybersecurity, application development or project management
- Familiarity with tools such as SQL, Excel, Power BI, Python, networking concepts, programming languages or project management methodologies (e.g., Agile)
- Prior internship, academic project, or relevant work experience
