Job Description
Summary: The State of Nebraska is looking for an IT Application Developer to join their Nebraska Public Employees Retirement Systems (NPERS) team. The role involves supporting and developing solutions for the NPERS pension administration system, requiring teamwork and customer service orientation.
Responsibilities:
- Assist senior-level developers while consulting with clients on web development projects
- Use web application development tools and utilities as appropriate
- Design, develop, code, debug, test, document and maintain these projects
- Perform the functional and technical design and implementation in a large-scale IT environment including consideration of existing automated systems with considerable supervision
- Participate in the full range of software product development activities, including requirements gathering; analysis and definition; functional and technical design; coding and testing; implementation, and production support with limited supervision
Required Qualifications:
- Experience, education, or training in coding computer applications
- Candidates must be service oriented
- Strong interpersonal and analytical skills that include working directly with various levels of business and technical staff to determine sound technical solutions for business requirements
- Strong technical, organization and planning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Desire and ability to learn and learn quickly
- Ability to debug, test and document computer programs
- Ability to write clear understandable program code
- Ability to maintain and modify existing computer applications
- Ability to work effectively in a team environment
