Job Description
Summary: The State of Nebraska is seeking an IT Application Developer to join the Nebraska Public Employees Retirement Systems (NPERS). This role involves supporting and developing solutions for the NPERS pension administration system, working closely with IT team members and clients on various web development projects.
Responsibilities:
- Assist senior-level developers while consulting with clients on web development projects
- Use web application development tools and utilities as appropriate
- Design, develop, code, debug, test, document and maintain these projects
- Perform the functional and technical design and implementation in a large-scale IT environment including consideration of existing automated systems with considerable supervision
- Participate in the full range of software product development activities, including requirements gathering; analysis and definition; functional and technical design; coding and testing; implementation, and production support with limited supervision
Required Qualifications:
- Experience, education, or training in coding computer applications
- Candidates must be service oriented
- Candidates must have strong interpersonal and analytical skills that include working directly with various levels of business and technical staff to determine sound technical solutions for business requirements
- Candidate must have strong technical, organization and planning, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
- Candidate must have the desire and ability to learn and learn quickly
- Candidate must be able to debug, test and document computer programs
- Candidate must be able to write clear understandable program code
- Candidate must be able to maintain and modify existing computer applications
- Candidate must be able to work effectively in a team environment
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of Java or other object-oriented programming languages and web development frameworks
- Knowledge of SQL databases
- Candidates with knowledge or experience in other programming technologies are encouraged to apply
