Job Description
Summary: Stantec is a global company that unites over 28,000 employees working to support operational excellence. They are seeking a Public Policy Co-op/Intern for the summer of 2026 to assist with various initiatives involving climate, sustainability, public policy, and international development.
Responsibilities:
- Interact with senior staff and leaders
- Contribute to the preparation of quality technical documents
- Draft policy briefs, memos, and reports under the supervision of senior staff
- Compile data and statistics from various sources for policy and project analysis
- Assist in audit assessments with assigned tasks commensurate with your level of experience
- Attend social and professional development events
- Provide support to and assist as needed an experienced team of professionals engaged in public policy
- Coordinating of/participating in the preparation of project details
- Participate in team meetings, providing input and suggestions for policy development and implementation
- Maintain updated knowledge of current events and policy changes relevant to the organization’s mission
- Perform various office tasks as required to deliver a quality product on schedule
- Support communities we live and work
Required Qualifications:
- Pursuing a bachelor's degree in business, marketing, political science
- Public relations skills and ability to communicate with staff, volunteers, corporate clients, and the public
- Capacity to work on several projects simultaneously
- Demonstrated interest in climate, sustainability, and public policy
- Experience in using Microsoft Office Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Outlook
- Strong interpersonal, organizational and analytical skills
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written)
- Problem-solving skills, discretion and good judgement when handling confidential/sensitive information
- Confident, detail orientated and enthusiastic team player
- Self-directed with the ability to work with a sense of urgency to complete tasks and meet deadlines
- Flexible and able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously
- Able to work collaboratively in a multi-disciplinary team with a positive attitude
- Able to contribute to a healthy safety and environmental culture
- Must be a self-starter and be able to work in a team setting
