Job Description
General Description The Dispatcher is responsible for coordinating and dispatching water trucks and lowboys to ensure efficient transportation of materials and equipment. This role requires a strong understanding of construction logistics, equipment operations, and scheduling to maintain smooth project execution.
Key Duties Logistics & Dispatching:
Coordinate the movement of materials and equipment to job sites. Plan efficient routes and schedules for deliveries and hauling. Assign and manage lowboy tractor-trailers, anticipating needs and minimizing empty trips. Assign water trucks to job sites based on project demands.
Communication & Coordination:
Work closely with Foremen and Superintendents to coordinate equipment pickup and drop-off times. Partner with Superintendents and Foremen to understand project requirements. Build and maintain relationships with internal teams and external customers.
Personnel & Compliance:
Monitor drivers’ time. Track fuel prices and optimize fuel usage. Obtain bulk water permits and report usage to relevant counties. Order DOT overweight permits for North Carolina and South Carolina.
Additional Responsibilities:
Maintain accurate records and reports related to dispatching operations. Adapt to changing job site requirements and provide real-time solutions. Perform other duties as assigned to meet company needs.
Qualification Requirements Education & Experience:
High school diploma or GED required. Proven experience in dispatching, logistics, or a related field. CDL experience preferred.
Skills & Competencies:
Strong organizational and multitasking abilities. Excellent communication and leadership skills. Ability to coordinate with Division Managers and field teams. Strong analytical and problem-solving skills to proactively address issues. Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment.
Physical Demands
Frequent sitting and standing for at least 8 hours per shift. Ability to stoop, bend, crouch, and lift up to 50 lbs frequently, and up to 150 lbs with assistance. Maintain constant alertness to construction site activities and equipment movement. Walk frequently on uneven terrain in varying weather conditions. Safely climb on and off heavy equipment as needed.
