Job Description
Summary: St. Elizabeth Healthcare is a trusted provider of quality care across Kentucky, Indiana, and Ohio, dedicated to improving the health of the communities they serve. The Pharmacy Intern assists with the selection, preparation, distribution, and record keeping of medications dispensed to inpatients, while also gaining valuable clinical experience under the supervision of a licensed Pharmacist.
Responsibilities:
- Assists with the selection, preparation, distribution, and record keeping of all medications dispensed to inpatients
- Assisting with clinical consultations via hospital protocols
- Completing medication histories
- Counseling on anticoagulation and methotrexate
- Converting medications from IV to PO
- Adjusting medications for renal and hepatic function
- Adheres to the ICARE principles and exhibits the AIDET principles
Required Qualifications:
- Registered Intern with Kentucky Board of Pharmacy
- Enrolled in an ACPE accredited College of Pharmacy
- A graduate of an approved college or school of pharmacy awaiting examination for licensure as a pharmacist or the results of an examination for licensure as a pharmacist
- Experience with Microsoft Office
Preferred Qualifications:
- Degree in a related area of studies (Chemistry, Biology or Mathematics)
- Understanding of Pharmacy Calculations
- IV Admixture Experience
- Previous experience as hospital pharmacy technician or intern
Required Skills: Registered Intern, ACPE accredited College
Important Skills: Microsoft Office, Pharmacy Calculations
Nice-to-Have Skills: IV Admixture Experience, Hospital pharmacy experience
