About Spotted Zebra

At Spotted Zebra, we're building something we genuinely believe in: an AI-native end-to-end hiring platform that helps the world's leading organisations find the right people, faster and fairer than ever before. In short, we're making hiring something everyone loves again - both talent teams and candidates alike.

We're a multi-award-winning Series A company giving talent leaders the solution they've always needed. Skills science native. AI-amplified. Built by people who've lived and breathed TA and knew there had to be a better way.

What we do

Spotted Zebra brings Interview Intelligence, Skills Assessments, and AI Interview Agent together in one powerful platform, designed for intelligence and action. One powerful agent and assistant: Spot. Working the way talent teams need it to, always with humans in control.

The result is talent teams get the insight to predict who will succeed, the speed to move before competitors, the governance to defend every hiring decision, and the capacity to focus on the human moments that matter most.

But our product is only part of the story. Spotted Zebra isn’t just building an AI-native product; we’re building an AI-native company. AI is changing how we build, sell, support customers and make decisions. We use it to move faster, stay closer to customers, reduce unnecessary processes, and give talented people more leverage in their roles.

That means joining Spotted Zebra isn’t just a chance to work on the future of hiring. It’s a chance to help shape what the future of work looks like inside a scaling company: compact, ambitious teams using AI to collaborate better, make decisions quickly, and deliver meaningful impact at speed.

The FTSE100 and Fortune500 companies trusting us include British Airways, NIQ, Domino's, Lidl, Merlin Entertainments, AWE, United Utilities, and Paramount. We've been named Personnel Today's Talent Acquisition Supplier of the Year 2025, secured gold across multiple industry awards, and were recently named on the UK Top 100 Startups List.

But what we’re most proud of is the team. People join Spotted Zebra because the mission is real, the product is genuinely exciting, and the opportunity to shape the future of hiring is huge. What makes it special is the way we work: smart, committed people in compact teams where trust is high, decisions happen quickly, and everyone has the chance to make a visible impact.

If that sounds like the kind of place you want to do your best work - read on.

Our Dazzle (That's Our Team!) 🦓

Fun fact: A group of zebras is called a dazzle – and ours truly is dazzling!

We create a culture in which our team thrives and gallops ahead.

As we roam free and empower our dazzle, we gallop ahead on the journey to achieving our goals. We understand this journey will pose challenges along the way, yet we brighten the trail with our positive mindset and encouragement of others. The dazzle continuously moves, gaining knowledge and skills so that we can graze new grounds.

What you'll be doing

You’ll turn complex hiring problems into simple, thoughtful experiences for talent teams and candidates, working with PMs, Engineers and fellow Designers from early exploration through delivery.

As our design expert, you’ll own our most complex design challenges and equip PMs and engineers to move quickly on simpler work through coaching, AI tools and our SZ Design System. Your impact will come from both the experiences you design yourself and the quality and speed of the work you enable others to deliver.

Spotted Zebra moves fast. You’ll get energy from solving real problems, making informed bets and seeing your work used. Discovery is focused, practical and continuous: stay close to users, gather useful signals and bring the confidence to act before every question has an answer.

Key responsibilities:

• Own design where it matters most. Lead complex, important problems from exploration to shipped experiences, with strong interaction design, visual craft and accessibility.
• Enable others to deliver good design. Equip PMs and Engineers to own simpler work using our SZ Design System, clear principles, AI tooling and coaching. Give them room to deliver independently, knowing when to step in.
• Stay close to users. Gather insight through conversations, product data and lightweight testing. Learn continuously alongside delivery, choosing research depth to match the decision.
• Make pragmatic decisions. Balance user value, business priorities and technical feasibility. Identify what needs care now, what can be simplified and what can improve after launch.
• Use AI to accelerate delivery. Improve research, prototyping and implementation workflows, evaluate outputs critically and embed useful approaches into tools the wider team can use independently.
• Keep the product coherent. Connect end-to-end journeys across crews, surface inconsistencies early and evolve common patterns in the SZ Design System so teams can move quickly without fragmenting the experience.
• Champion the user. Challenge assumptions with Product, Engineering, Data Science and Occupational Psychology, finding practical solutions that balance usability, trust and governance.
• Design understandable AI experiences. Make capabilities, limitations and next steps clear, keeping users in control when AI is uncertain or gets something wrong.
• Follow through on outcomes. Partner with Engineers during implementation, check what ships and use feedback and product data to improve usability and value.

Must-Haves ✅

• A track record of shipping complex, web-based SaaS experiences at pace, with examples of decisions made under uncertainty and improvements after launch.
• Excellent UX and visual craft: intuitive, accessible interfaces that simplify complex workflows. You hold a high bar for craft but don’t let perfection get in the way of shipping, knowing where polish matters most and where good enough is the right call.
• Strong product judgement in startup or scale-up teams, using qualitative research and product data to make informed bets and choose proportionate discovery.
• Close collaboration with PMs and Engineers, combining product thinking and technical understanding to get good work shipped.
• Using AI coding or prototyping tools such as Claude Code, Claude Design or Lovable, including embedding design-system guidance into their context.
• Practical examples of using AI to accelerate design or delivery, critically evaluating its output and applying your own judgement.
• Examples of enabling PMs or Engineers to independently deliver good design through reusable patterns, clear guidance and coaching, with judgement about when to step in.
• You thrive in ambiguity - you’re energised by designing at the intersection of skills science and enterprise needs, where problems are rarely well defined. You bring structure to complexity and make confident design decisions without waiting for perfect information.
• Curiosity, resourcefulness and adaptability. You thrive with autonomy, move between strategy and detail, explain decisions clearly, surface risks and confidently advocate for users.

Nice-to-Haves 🌟

• Designing AI-powered products, particularly agents or assistants that help users complete complex tasks.

• Experience in HR tech, recruitment or enterprise products with multiple user types and important trust or governance considerations.
• Improving consistency across product teams or evolving an established product alongside new capabilities.
