Job Description
Summary: Sports Excitement is developing a digital platform designed to support youth athletes and sports communities. They are seeking a UX Strategy Lead Intern to guide UX design and research teams, organize initiatives, and mentor junior designers while collaborating across departments.
Responsibilities:
- Work directly with the Director of UX to help guide UX strategy, product features, team priorities, and project direction
- Help plan UX sprints, assign tasks, track progress, and identify project risks or blockers
- Run daily standups, design syncs, critiques, planning sessions, and other UX team meetings
- Review UX and UI work and provide clear, constructive, and actionable feedback
- Support and coordinate the work of UX designers, UX researchers, and other contributors
- Mentor junior designers and help team members work through UX methods, design decisions, and project challenges
- Help maintain consistency across prototypes, product areas, design systems, and UX documentation
- Review Figma files, user flows, interaction patterns, prototypes, and design specifications
- Support usability testing, research planning, findings review, and the integration of research into product decisions
- Write and maintain UX requirements, process documentation, project plans, and design notes
- Collaborate regularly with development, product, marketing, leadership, and other cross-functional teams
- Present UX work, recommendations, progress, and product decisions to stakeholders
- Help onboard new UX team members and support team processes
- Make time-sensitive or critical UX decisions when the Director of UX is unavailable
- Gradually take on greater ownership and decision-making authority as trust, product knowledge, and team familiarity develop
- Contribute to hands-on design work when desired, though production design is not a required part of the role
Required Qualifications:
- Experience contributing to more than one UX project
- Experience working on at least one real-world project outside of coursework or classroom assignments
- A professional UX, product design, or related portfolio
- Strong working knowledge of UX strategy, interaction design, user-centered design, and product thinking
- Strong Figma skills and the ability to review, inspect, and provide feedback on design work
- Knowledge of design systems, accessibility, UX research, and usability principles
- The ability to evaluate user flows, prototypes, interfaces, and product requirements
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- The ability to give respectful, specific, and constructive design feedback
- Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage several projects or workstreams
- The maturity to communicate concerns, surface blockers, and make thoughtful decisions
- The ability to work effectively with designers, researchers, developers, marketers, product contributors, and company leadership
- Reliable weekday availability for required meetings
- The ability to work remotely within a United States time zone between Pacific and Eastern time
