Job Description
Summary: SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. They are seeking a Software Engineer for the Starlink program to solve challenges that improve the satellite internet experience for users worldwide. The role involves designing and operating a telemetry platform, collaborating with teams, and taking ownership of software and hardware solutions.
Responsibilities:
- Design, build, and operate a highly reliable, distributed telemetry platform capable of ingesting, processing, storing, and querying data at petabyte scale
- Collaborate with other engineers on architecture, design, and code reviews
- Partner closely with satellite and rocket teams to understand real mission needs and translate them into elegant technical solutions
- Take full end-to-end ownership of the complete software and hardware stack
- Deep dive into business problems, find efficient solutions and apply first principles thinking
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, data science, engineering, math, physics, or scientific discipline; OR 2+ years of professional experience building software in lieu of a degree
- 1+ years of experience in full stack development, software engineering, data engineering, or data science
- Active Top Secret or TS/SCI clearance
- Willing to work extended hours and weekends when needed
- To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
Preferred Qualifications:
- Programming experience in C#, Java, or similar languages
- Experience designing, building, and optimizing large-scale distributed systems for processing and querying high-volume data
- Hands-on experience with Kubernetes and containerized deployments
- Working knowledge of Linux, version control, testing, CI/CD, deployment, and monitoring systems
