Job Description
Summary: SpaceX is actively developing technologies to enable human life on Mars. The Software Engineer (Starlink) will be responsible for the development and design of innovative test systems that support the rapid development and accurate testing of Starlink vehicle software and hardware.
Responsibilities:
- Create software and supporting infrastructure that enables frequent and reliable deployment, test execution, and data analysis as part of a continuous integration and release system
- Analyze test results and identify bugs that require in-depth investigations with engineers across the organization
- Work closely with both software and hardware engineers to provide an intuitive, fast, and high signal-to-noise ratio integrated test platform
- Develop robust test execution across multiple environments: hardware-in-the-loop (HITL, HIL) and virtualized hardware simulations
- Engage in hands-on and cross-domain collaboration with engineers to identify, investigate, and resolve issues with Starlink hardware/software
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in computer science, engineering, math, or STEM discipline and 1+ years of professional experience in test systems, software or hardware development; OR 3+ years of professional experience in test systems, software or hardware development in lieu of a degree (internship experience is applicable)
- Development experience in Python, C, C++, or Rust
- Must be willing to work extended hours and weekends as needed
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience building, testing, or working with CI/CD systems
- Linux and Bash proficiency and experience with networking protocols
- Strong skills in troubleshooting, debugging, performance optimization, and unit testing
- Developed and deployed software that has been used in real world applications/projects
- Data analysis skillset and experience with simulation software
- Experience with containerization technologies (i.e. Docker, Kubernetes)
- Solid fundamental knowledge of networks, electronics, RF communications, math, and physics
- Creative approach to problem solving, exceptional analytical skills and engineering fundamentals
- Excellent organizational and communication skills
- Ability to learn quickly and work effectively in a dynamic environment
