Job Description
Summary: SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. In this role, you will specialize in the development of thermal and degradation analysis tools to ensure space safety standards are met for future satellite designs.
Responsibilities:
- Build custom software infrastructure and tooling to support thermal analysis simulations
- Automate analysis workflows to reduce engineering burden
- Validate and verify analysis tools and thermal models against experimental data, flight telemetry, or benchmark re-entry scenarios
- Drive tests that will increase the fidelity of the available tools
- Produce quality documentation of your work
- Pursue performance and robustness improvements in existing tools and processes
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in engineering, computer science, physics, or a related field
- 1+ years of professional experience (internship or co-op experience can apply)
- Must be available to work extended hours and weekends as needed for mission critical deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Strong background in Python and computer science fundamentals
- Understanding of thermal/fluid networks (0-D or 1-D modeling)
- Experience automating engineering workflows or simulations
- Knowledge of and/or experience in MATLAB, C/C++, Git, Thermal Desktop, ANSYS Workbench, Siemens STAR-CCM+
- Excellent communication and documentation skills
- Ability to deliver against an aggressive schedule
