Job Description
Summary: SpaceX was founded under the belief that a future where humanity is out exploring the stars is fundamentally more exciting than one where we are not. As a Full Stack Software Engineer in the Constellation Tools team, you will build user interfaces and backend systems to enable safe and efficient operations for Starlink satellites and ground assets.
Responsibilities:
- Develop well-architected, highly reliable, responsive, and performant web applications to command, control, and monitor fleets of assets
- Create aesthetic and easy-to-use user interfaces that reduce the operational load of operators and maintain high guardrails for safety
- Create and apply techniques, tools, and infrastructure that decrease software complexity and maintenance over time
- Maintain high software standards and software engineering best practices across the full stack
- Regularly sit with Operators to obtain firsthand feedback of how the team's products are used and what improvements can be made
- Demonstrate a strong attitude to learn and adapt quickly, diving deep into new technologies as needed to become an expert in frontend and backend technologies alike (while prior expertise in key areas is a plus)
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelors degree in STEM & 1+ year of industry and/or internship experience; OR 3+ years of professional software development experience in lieu of a STEM degree
- Ability to work extended hours or weekends as needed for mission critical deadlines
- Ability to work on an 'on-call' basis on a weeklong rotational schedule
- To conform to U.S. Government export regulations, applicant must be a (i) U.S. citizen or national, (ii) U.S. lawful, permanent resident (aka green card holder), (iii) Refugee under 8 U.S.C. 1157, or (iv) Asylee under 8 U.S.C. 1158, or be eligible to obtain the required authorizations from the U.S. Department of State
Preferred Qualifications:
- Frontend experience in Angular, React, or a similar JavaScript framework
- Programming experience in Python, C#, .NET, Go, Scala, Java, or similar object-oriented language
- Experience with PostgreSQL, CockroachDB, or similar relational database technologies
- Production experience with infrastructure tools such as Docker and Kubernetes
- Experience with version control, continuous integration, and continuous delivery systems
- Expertise in profiling and improving application performance
- Experience with build systems (Make, Bazel/Pants/Buck, Gradle) and package management tools (pip, npm)
- Strong attention to detail
- A drive to deliver exceptional operations tools and willingness to own all outcomes
