Job Description
Summary: The South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles is seeking an Administrative Specialist II intern to join their team. This internship offers the opportunity to gain valuable experience while performing various administrative tasks such as maintaining databases, answering phone inquiries, and managing office supplies.
Responsibilities:
- Create, maintain, and enter information into databases or software programs
- Answer telephones to direct calls or provide information
- Respond to and resolve administrative inquiries and questions
- Perform other general clerical and secretarial duties as requested, which may include recordkeeping, maintain office supplies and coordinate equipment maintenance, and handling packages and correspondence
- Review files, records, and other documents to obtain information to respond to requests
- Maintain files and filing systems in accordance with departmental policies and procedures
Required Qualifications:
- Eligible participants must be between 18 and 24 years old
- Not required to be in school
- 20 - 40 hour weeks depending upon SC Works defined region and available funding
- Interns will be subject to qualification through an SC Works screening process. This process considers various factors such as household income, parent's education level, etc
- Candidates may also be required to complete an assessment to identify where additional training is needed
- Must complete a nationwide criminal background check
Preferred Qualifications:
- Familiar with all standard office equipment (phones, fax, copier, scanners)
- Able to provide excellent customer service and demonstrate strong ethics
- Ability to multitask with attention to details
- Ability to work with documents/files and exercise confidentiality
- Verbal and written communication skills
- Professional workplace etiquette
