Job Description
Summary: Sony Music Publishing is the #1 global music publisher, supporting songwriters and composers for over 25 years. The Studio Tech Intern will assist with the maintenance, setup, and troubleshooting of composer workstations and systems, gaining hands-on experience in a professional film and television scoring environment.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with diagnosing and repairing DAW session issues (Cubase, Logic, Pro Tools)
- Help troubleshoot plugin and virtual instrument issues (Kontakt, Spitfire, SINE Player, EastWest, etc.)
- Maintain and organize sample libraries and virtual instruments
- Set up and test new hardware (audio interfaces, MIDI controllers, synths, control surfaces)
- Assist with drive imaging and configuration for new composer workstations
- Identify and document system performance issues (disk overloads, CPU spikes, RAM bottlenecks, etc.)
- Trace and label signal flow between hardware and software components as needed
- Contribute to long-term system improvements and updates
- Help manage software, plugin, and OS updates and compatibility checks
Required Qualifications:
- Hands-on experience in computer hardware, digital audio workstations (DAWs), and studio technology
- Ability to assist with diagnosing and repairing DAW session issues (Cubase, Logic, Pro Tools)
- Ability to help troubleshoot plugin and virtual instrument issues (Kontakt, Spitfire, SINE Player, EastWest, etc.)
- Ability to maintain and organize sample libraries and virtual instruments
- Ability to set up and test new hardware (audio interfaces, MIDI controllers, synths, control surfaces)
