About the role

**Salary range:** Up to £27,927.90 per annum DOE inclusive of regional pay allowance

**About the role:**
A vacancy has arisen for a Medical Laboratory Assistant to join our team in the Specimen Reception department based at the Princess Alexandra Hospital (PAH) in Harlow. This post offers the opportunity to broaden your skills and experience in a busy Pathology Specimen reception.
The laboratory at PAH ESL provides 24/7 Haematology, Blood Transfusion and Biochemistry testing for acute and urgent care areas of the hospital. Overall, Job Purpose would be to assist in the daily running of the pre-analytical services for the laboratory sections to which you have been assigned within PAH Specimen Reception. To assist in the performance of the routine diagnostic analytical work of the department as directed and to provide general support in other areas of the Laboratory during the out of hours shifts.
The post holder will initially work core hours whilst in training but will be required once trained and competent to work as part of a 24/7 service shift rota. This will consist of Core, Late, Nights along with weekend and bank holidays to work within any section of the department.
The department provides a wide variety of investigations using advanced instrumentation covering automated and manual diagnostic testing. The successful candidate will join our team of dedicated to support our biomedical scientists and associate practitioners in delivering a high-quality pathology service. Previous experience would be helpful, however full training will be provided for all work performed. The Laboratory operates as a 24/7 service so the successful candidate will be expected once trained and competencies are completed to take part in the 24/7 shift rota.
