Job Description
Summary: Solar Turbines is part of Caterpillar Inc., a global team focused on building stronger, sustainable communities. The NPI Entry Level Rotational Engineer role offers a unique opportunity to build a technical foundation through rotations in various engineering departments, providing exposure to gas turbine products and preparing candidates for a rewarding engineering career.
Responsibilities:
- Begin building technical foundation
- Provide challenging assignments
- Create broad exposure to Solar Turbines organization and application
- Acquire gas turbine product knowledge
- Develop enterprise perspective
- Begin network building
- Preparation for a challenging and rewarding engineering career
- During the candidate selection process, the candidate will be selected for a particular functional department that leverages their current skill set and future interests, rotations will be a combination of departments/roles that will supplement final placement and candidate preference to stretch and learn and upon completion of the program the selected candidate joins the selected department
Required Qualifications:
- In the process of obtaining or have obtained a minimum of a bachelor's degree in an accredited engineering program such as Mechanical, Aerospace, Chemistry, ect
- Overall GPA of 2.8 on a 4.0 scale
- Previous Internship and/or relevant work experience
- Technical knowledge of engineering fundamentals
- Must be able and willing to relocate to San Diego, CA and be in office full time
- Ideal for those building foundational skills in this field, generally within the first 0–2 years of their career
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience (Course work or internship) in turbomachinery concepts, designs, maintenance
- High energy level and sense of urgency
- Good business / technical judgment
- Ability to handle multiple priorities for a variety of tasks
- Previous co-op or Internship experience
- Problem solving skills
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
