Job Description
Summary: Softheon develops healthcare software that simplifies health insurance selection and supports health plan and government customers with enrollment, administration, reporting, renewal, and billing operations. The Data Platform Engineer I provides entry-level support for database and event streaming infrastructure by assisting with configuration, maintenance, monitoring, documentation, troubleshooting, and platform improvement initiatives.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the configuration and maintenance of SQL Server and Kafka systems under the guidance of senior engineers
- Execute operational checklists to support backup, disaster recovery, and patching efforts
- Support basic system monitoring and alerting activities to ensure platform reliability
- Help maintain accurate and up-to-date documentation of operational processes and system changes
- Participate in team discussions focused on continuous improvement and platform efficiency
- Work closely with platform team members and key stakeholders to troubleshoot issues and support day-to-day operations
- Communicate effectively within the team and escalate concerns when appropriate
- Seek out opportunities to learn from senior team members and contribute to a collaborative team environment
- Demonstrate initiative, curiosity, and adaptability in a fast-paced technical environment
- Collaborate with the Talent team to actively engage in the hiring and recruitment process, including but not limited to participating in interviews
- Leverage industry networks and expertise to identify and attract top talent that aligns with the company's objectives and values
- Provide guidance and mentorship to team members within your department and across diverse functions
- Play an integral role in shaping and reinforcing the overall company culture, promoting values that enhance teamwork, collaboration, and employee engagement
- Must be available for on-call duty, providing support outside of regular working hours as needed to ensure the timely resolution of critical issues
- Although we work in a remote-first environment, all roles require in-person attendance at our headquarters approximately 2 times per year (in addition to other travel requirements for this specific role, if applicable). These visits are essential for team collaboration, strategic planning, and fostering deeper connections across the organization. Travel arrangements will be supported to ensure a seamless experience
- Must reside in the Eastern or Central time zone. Must work eastern hours
Required Qualifications:
- • Must be available for on-call duty, providing support outside of regular working hours as needed to ensure the timely resolution of critical issues
- • Although we work in a remote-first environment, all roles require in-person attendance at our headquarters approximately 2 times per year (in addition to other travel requirements for this specific role, if applicable). These visits are essential for team collaboration, strategic planning, and fostering deeper connections across the organization. Travel arrangements will be supported to ensure a seamless experience
- • Must reside in the Eastern or Central time zone. Must work eastern hours
- • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related field is required
- • 1 year of experience with SQL Server (internships and personal projects welcome)
- • AZ-900 and AI-901 must be obtained within 180 days or being hired if not already certified
- • Basic understanding of core database concepts, security best practices, and system administration
- • Eagerness to learn and take initiative

- Candidates must have valid work authorization to work in the U.S. without any current or future need for employer sponsorship
Preferred Qualifications:
- • Familiarity with containerization (e.g., Docker) and distributed systems is a plus
