Role Summary
Softelite Technologies is seeking a Senior Workday Architect/Engineer to embed within a large investor-owned utility in Columbus, Ohio, leading the design, configuration, and integration of Workday HCM and/or Financial Management solutions. This role translates business requirements into scalable Workday architecture, including security, business process configuration, integrations, and reporting/analytics design. The client environment runs Workday alongside PeopleSoft and IBM Maximo, so this role also owns the coexistence and integration architecture across all three platforms during an active transformation program.
Key Responsibilities
● Lead end-to-end Workday solution architecture across HCM, Payroll, Financials, or Adaptive Planning modules as applicable to the engagement.
● Design and govern the Workday security model (domain and business process security groups), business process framework, and organizational structures.
● Architect integrations between Workday and upstream/downstream systems, including PeopleSoft, IBM Maximo (procurement and enterprise asset management), benefits providers, payroll vendors, and data warehouses, using EIBs, Workday Studio, Core Connectors, or equivalent tools.
● Design the procurement and asset-management data flow between Workday Financials/Procurement and IBM Maximo, ensuring accurate vendor, asset, and cost-center alignment across systems.
● Own data conversion and migration strategy for the transition from PeopleSoft to Workday, including coexistence architecture during phased rollouts while PeopleSoft and IBM Maximo remain in production.
● Partner with client HR, Finance, and IT leadership to translate business requirements into Workday configuration and process design.
● Lead testing strategy (unit, integration, UAT) and cutover/go-live planning.
● Mentor client and Softelite delivery teams on Workday best practices and biannual release management.
Required Qualifications
● 8+ years implementing or architecting Workday solutions, including at least one full-lifecycle implementation as lead architect.
● Deep expertise in Workday HCM and/or Financial Management configuration, security, and business process framework.
● Hands-on experience with Workday integration tools (Studio, EIB, Core Connectors) and REST/SOAP-based integration patterns.
● Experience leading data conversion and migration from PeopleSoft to Workday.
● Based in or willing to relocate to Columbus, Ohio; able to work onsite for the duration of the engagement.
● Workday Pro certification in a relevant module (HCM, Integrations, Financials, or similar).
Preferred Qualifications
● Direct experience with PeopleSoft-to-Workday migration or coexistence architectures.
● Direct experience integrating Workday with IBM Maximo in a utility or asset-intensive industry.
● Experience in regulated industries (utilities, financial services, healthcare) with associated compliance and audit requirements.
● Prior consulting or advisory delivery experience.
● Experience with Workday Extend or Workday Prism Analytics.
What Success Looks Like
