JOIN OUR AMAZING TEAM!
Director of Coaches - Leadership Team Member
Lead People. Build a Team. Make an Impact.
This is a hands-on leadership role for someone who loves developing people, building relationships, solving problems, and helping a team succeed.
You’ll laugh. You’ll break a sweat. And you’ll go home knowing that you made a difference—not only in the lives of children, but in the coaches you lead.
Soccer Shots San Diego is looking for a Director of Coaching who wants to take ownership of an incredible team of coaches.
Yes, you’ll help us recruit, hire, train and schedule great coaches. But this position is about much more than filling shifts.
We are looking for a leader.
Someone who gets to know their coaches. Someone coaches trust and want to work for. Someone who develops people, recognizes problems early, steps in when the team needs help, and takes pride in making sure our coaching team delivers an exceptional experience to every child, family and partner we serve.
If you enjoy building teams and want an opportunity to grow as a leader, we want to meet you.
THE JOB
As our Director of Coaching, you will help lead the people responsible for delivering the Soccer Shots experience every day.
You will:
- Lead, support and develop our team of Soccer Shots coaches
- Build genuine relationships with coaches and create a strong, connected team culture
- Recruit, interview, hire and onboard excellent new coaches
- Train, observe, evaluate and continually develop coaches
- Help coaches grow into trainers, mentors and future leaders
- Run coach meetings, trainings and special events
- Help create and manage coach schedules based on program and team needs
- Proactively solve scheduling challenges, call-outs and coverage issues
- Step in and help when unexpected coaching challenges arise
- Maintain strong communication with coaches so issues are identified before they become emergencies
- Help hold coaches accountable to Soccer Shots standards and expectations
- Serve as a Brand Ambassador with our schools, parks and community partners
- Help protect and strengthen partner relationships when challenges arise
- Work collaboratively with our leadership and administrative team to accomplish company goals
- Identify problems, bring solutions and help improve the systems that support our coaching team
- Support the team outside your normal lane when necessary to help the organization succeed
- Represent Soccer Shots positively and professionally in the community
LEADERSHIP + MANAGEMENT
We don't expect everything to go perfectly.
Coaches will call out. Schedules will change. Parents and partners will need help. Problems will occasionally fall between the cracks.
We need someone whose instinct is:
“I've got it. Let's figure this out.”
You won't have to personally do everything—but you will help make sure the right things get done.
WHO WILL THRIVE IN THIS ROLE?
You may be a great fit if you:
- Love leading and developing people
- Naturally build strong relationships
- Enjoy helping others become better at what they do
- Are comfortable having both encouraging and difficult conversations
- Take ownership instead of waiting for someone else to solve a problem
- Communicate clearly, professionally and respectfully—even when something goes wrong
- Can organize people and schedules without losing sight of the people behind them
- Enjoy working collaboratively as part of a leadership team
- Are willing to jump in when the team needs you
- Want responsibility, accountability and an opportunity to grow
- Are humble enough to learn and confident enough to lead
You do not need to know everything on day one.
We can teach systems and processes.
We're looking for someone with the attitude, leadership ability and desire to own the outcome.
OPPORTUNITY TO GROW
We want this to be more than another job.
Our goal is to find someone who can become an increasingly important leader within Soccer Shots San Diego.
As you demonstrate your ability to lead people, solve problems, improve systems and produce results, there will be opportunities to take on greater leadership and responsibility within the organization.
We want someone who is excited to help build what comes next.
