ABOUT THE ROLE
The Distribution Royalty Allocation Administrator - RR is responsible for supporting the end-to-end domestic distribution process through the validation of allocations to ensure that the accuracy of royalty allocations for each market and perform any necessary corrections are to ensure accuracy of payment to RR members.
This can include analyzing held funds and returned royalties, determining the course of action for dealing with them, and communicating and collaborating frequently with the RR Distribution team and other stakeholders within SOCAN and/or externally, as required. This role will also be required to identify process improvements, and opportunities for efficiencies, and provide expertise on multiple initiatives that relate to the exchange of RR royalties.
WHAT YOU’LL DO / KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
• Assist with the end-to-end distribution process (ingestion to distribution) process for domestic RR distributions.
• Research, identify and merge unmatched performances to payable works and AV works on internal system(s).
• Process allocations for domestic RR distributions and ensure accuracy through business validations based on RR distribution rules.
• Help ensure leadership attention is focused on the highest-impact issues, decisions, and delivery risks.
• Maintain the Watch-For List and ensure associated items have been reviewed and corrections completed.
• Liaise with other teams (i.e. Repertoire, Membership, Queries, Finance, etc.) as required, to ensure smooth and on time processes and activities, and resolve queries from members and/or other societies.
• Act as subject matter expert in relation to RR royalties activities.
• Other duties as required.
WHAT YOU WILL BRING / QUALIFICATIONS & EXPERIENCE
• Bilingual English and French an asset
• Excellent research and problem-solving skills, with a strong attention to detail
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in a high volume data environment
• Computer literacy and advanced knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, (Word, Excel, etc.)
• Financial competence/literacy.
• Strong time management skills to meet deadlines and ability to multi-task.
• Copyright/Rights Management experience an asset.
• Knowledge of existing SOCAN distribution workflows an asset.
• Knowledge of repertoire, copyright, and share splits an asset
