Job Description
Summary: Snap-on is a company specializing in tools and equipment, and they are seeking a Mechanical, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering Technology college student for a summer internship. The Intern will develop 3D CAD models and detailed drawings to support the production of Snap-on hand tools, while also working on engineering new manufacturing processes and improving production efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Create 3-D CAD models and detailed drawings for tooling and fixturing using CATIA
- Work with product development team to engineer new / improved manufacturing processes
- Assemble tooling and Fixturing using hand tools
- Evaluate field failure modes to determine the root cause. Develop, prototype and test modifications to reduce the failure rate
- Perform and document cutting tooling life/performance testing
- Work with production associates to create/implement ideas that improve production efficiency
Required Qualifications:
- Knowledge of mechanical engineering principles, preferably materials statics/mechanics, mechanisms, testing, and instrumentation
- Some 3D CAD experience
- Familiar with CNC machining
- Able to document all work and projects
- Excellent problem-solving skills
- High attention to detail
- Has initiative and able to work effectively with little direction and/or few guidelines
- Excellent knowledge of MS Office programs
- High mechanical aptitude
- Ability to work full-time during summer
- Substantial progress toward a Mechanical, Industrial or Mechanical Engineering Technology Degree at an accredited university
