Job Description
Summary: Smith is the world’s #1 independent distributor of electronic components, offering procurement and supply chain services to electronics manufacturers. The Software Engineering Intern will participate in the development of web-based software applications, focusing on delivering high-quality, usable, and scalable solutions that align with product designs and business requirements.
Responsibilities:
- Participate in the development of web-based software applications
- Focus on delivering high-quality, usable, and scalable solutions that align with product designs and business requirements
- Produce highly reusable, maintainable, and extensible code consistent with software engineering best practices
- Help create technical solutions and implement them in software code
- Develop applications using a cloud-based infrastructure, leveraging Amazon Web Services (AWS) and proprietary cloud server farms
Required Qualifications:
- Enrolled in a bachelor's degree program in computer science, computer engineering, or software engineering
- Experience in any of the following areas: Front end frameworks such as Angular V10+ or similar technologies
- Compiler or scripting languages, with a preference for Java, to establish a strong foundation in object-oriented design
- Relational databases, including Oracle or MySQL
- RESTful API design and implementation experience
- Familiarity with DevOps and build tools such as Grunt, Maven, Gradle, test frameworks, Git, and CI/CD pipelines
- Server-side JavaScript frameworks like Node.js
Preferred Qualifications:
- Knowledge of NoSQL databases such as MongoDB and DocumentDB is advantageous
- Exposure to hybrid mobile app development frameworks such as Ionic
