Job Description
Summary: Smith Industries designs and manufactures engineered process equipment and utility infrastructure solutions serving various markets across North America. They are seeking motivated Mechanical and Industrial Engineering students for a hands-on internship that involves working on real projects impacting production, quality, and efficiency.
Responsibilities:
- Support manufacturing and production engineering initiatives
- Assist with process improvement and continuous improvement projects
- Review engineering documentation, drawings, and bills of material (BOMs)
- Support production planning, scheduling, and project execution activities
- Assist with material tracking, reporting, and operational metrics
- Collaborate with Engineering, Operations, Quality, Supply Chain, and Manufacturing teams
- Participate in shop-floor problem solving and root cause analysis
- Contribute to projects that improve safety, quality, productivity, and cost performance
Required Qualifications:
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical Engineering
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Industrial Engineering
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Manufacturing Engineering
- Currently pursuing a Bachelor's or Master's degree in a related engineering discipline
- Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Proficiency with Microsoft Excel and standard engineering software tools
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills
- Interest in manufacturing, fabrication, operations, project management, or continuous improvement
- Willingness to spend time both in an office and manufacturing environment
