Pediatric Urology Fellowship Program

Program Overview

Pediatric Urology is the subspecialty of both urology and pediatric surgery concerned with clinical recognition, prevention, treatment (surgical and nonsurgical) and the rehabilitation of congenital and acquired diseases, malformations and functional problems of the genitourinary system in children and adolescents. It also encompasses the promotion of good genitourinary system health in children and psychosocial well-being of the patients and their families.

Education in pediatric urology includes experience with fetal and genetic evaluation; issues of renal disease, such as chronic renal insufficiency and transplantation; congenital and acquired neurological diseases affecting the urinary tract, such as spina bifida and neurogenic bladder; treatment and management of congenital genitourinary abnormalities and reconstructive urology across all ages.

Key Rotations

During the 2-year program the rotations will be calculated in 4-week blocks. The fellow is expected to rotate in the following activities and times:

• Pediatric Urology (19.5 blocks)
• Pediatric Nephrology (1 block)
• Radiology (0.5 blocks)
• Research (2 blocks)

Entry Requirements

• Completion of an ACGME-I accredited or equivalent residency training program in Urology or Pediatric Surgery.
• Board certification in core specialty (Urology or Pediatric Surgery).
• Hold a valid Medical License or be eligible for licensure in Qatar (click here for more details).
• Show commitment to Pediatric Urology in the form of at least 1-year experience in the field of pediatric urology.
