As part of our rapidly growing Dark Store Management business, we partner with leading quick commerce, grocery, and retail brands to operate and manage their dark stores end-to-end, including inventory handling, store operations, manpower management, and last-mile fulfillment.
We are looking for a highly analytical and business-oriented professional to drive profitability, operational efficiency, and scalable growth across our dark store network.
Role Overview
The Business Analyst / Senior Business Analyst will be responsible for driving the financial and operational performance of Shadowfax’s Dark Store Management business. The role sits at the intersection of Operations, Finance, and Business Strategy and requires strong analytical skills to identify cost leakages, improve manpower productivity, optimize revenue realization, and enhance overall P&L performance.
The ideal candidate should be comfortable working with large datasets, creating business insights, influencing stakeholders, and driving execution with operations teams on the ground.
Key Responsibilities
P&L Management & Profitability
* Own and track key P&L metrics across dark store operations.
* Identify and quantify cost leakages across manpower, productivity, shrinkage, process inefficiencies, and operational losses.
* Develop and implement profitability improvement initiatives.
* Conduct variance analysis against budgets and targets and recommend corrective actions.
* Create financial models to evaluate business opportunities, pricing changes, and operational interventions.
Revenue Optimization
* Analyze revenue drivers across clients, cities, and store formats.
* Identify opportunities to improve revenue realization and contribution margins.
* Support commercial teams with pricing analysis and profitability assessments.
* Build business cases for new service offerings, client contracts, and operational models.
Productivity & Workforce Analytics
* Monitor manpower utilization, productivity, and efficiency metrics across dark stores.
* Establish benchmarks for picker productivity, packer productivity, supervisor span, and store throughput.
* Partner with operations teams to design and track productivity improvement programs.
* Analyze staffing models and recommend optimal manpower deployment strategies.
Business Performance & Analytics
* Build dashboards and reporting frameworks for business, operational, and financial KPIs.
* Track store-level performance and identify opportunities for improvement.
* Conduct root-cause analysis on performance deviations and recommend actionable interventions.
* Generate periodic business reviews for leadership highlighting key trends, risks, and opportunities.
Process Excellence & Cost Control
* Drive data-backed initiatives to improve operational efficiency.
* Work closely with Operations, Finance, Product, and Client Success teams to implement process improvements.
* Monitor adherence to operational SOPs and identify process gaps impacting profitability.
* Support automation and digitization initiatives to improve reporting and operational visibility.
Strategic Projects
* Lead high-impact projects focused on business expansion, network optimization, and profitability enhancement.
* Evaluate new dark store opportunities, city launches, and client onboarding through financial and operational analysis.
* Support leadership in annual planning, budgeting, and forecasting exercises.

Qualifications
Business Analyst
* 2–4 years of experience in Business Analytics, Strategy, Operations Excellence, Consulting, Supply Chain Analytics, or Finance.
* Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Economics, Mathematics, Statistics, Business, or a related discipline.
2. Senior Business Analyst
* 4–7 years of experience in Business Analytics, Strategy, Operations, Supply Chain, Consulting, or P&L-focused roles.
* Experience managing large-scale operational businesses is preferred.
Preferred Experience
* Experience in Quick Commerce, E-commerce, Retail, Warehousing, Logistics, Supply Chain, or Dark Store operations.
* Exposure to operational P&L management and productivity improvement programs.
* Experience working with large datasets and operational decision-making.
Skills Required
* Strong analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
* Advanced SQL proficiency.
* Strong Excel and financial modeling skills.
* Experience with BI tools such as Tableau, Power BI, Looker, or Metabase.
* Ability to derive actionable insights from data and drive execution.
* Strong stakeholder management and communication skills.
* Structured thinking with a high degree of ownership and bias for action.

Within the first 12 months, the candidate is expected to:
