Job Description
Summary: Settlement Housing Fund is a nonprofit affordable housing organization that owns and operates affordable apartments in New York City. They are seeking a Legal Intern to assist with drafting legal documents, preparing government disclosure packages, and conducting legal research related to affordable housing.
Responsibilities:
- Assist with drafting and reviewing legal documents, including service agreements and finance and regulatory documents
- Assist with preparing government disclosure packages
- Assist with legal research needs related to affordable housing in NYC
- Attend meetings as needed
- Assist with internal SHF legal record-keeping
Required Qualifications:
- Current law school student
- Ability to intern with SHF's legal department during the school semester or over the summer
- Ability to report to the General Counsel
- Ability to interact with the rest of the legal team
- Ability to receive hourly wage or academic credit with stipend subject to law school's guidelines
- Availability to work 21-35 hours a week with a hybrid schedule
- Ability to assist with drafting and reviewing legal documents, including service agreements and finance and regulatory documents
- Ability to assist with preparing government disclosure packages
- Ability to assist with legal research needs related to affordable housing in NYC
- Ability to attend meetings as needed
- Ability to assist with internal SHF legal record-keeping
