Job Description
Summary: Segal McCambridge, a nationally recognized litigation firm, is seeking an Associate Attorney to join its Silica Defense practice in California. This role involves managing cases, developing strategy, and working directly with experienced trial attorneys on high-stakes litigation for national and Fortune 500 clients.
Responsibilities:
- Manage an assigned caseload with partner oversight
- Draft pleadings, motions, and written discovery
- Conduct legal research and prepare substantive legal analysis
- Take and defend depositions
- Participate in mediations and arbitrations
- Communicate directly with clients and insurance carriers
- Collaborate with a team of experienced litigators on complex matters
Required Qualifications:
- Active California bar license
- At least 1 year of defense litigation experience
- Deposition experience required
- Strong legal research, writing, and advocacy skills
- Ability to manage multiple deadlines and competing priorities
- A proactive mindset and ownership of assignments
- Strong interpersonal and presentation skills
Preferred Qualifications:
- Experience with toxic tort, silica, asbestos, or product liability defense preferred
- Experience with mediations or arbitrations is a plus
