About the Role

We are seeking a clinically excellent cataract and anterior segment surgeon to join a medically focused, referral-driven ophthalmology practice. This role is designed for a surgeon who values high-quality outcomes, sound surgical judgment, and collaborative care, and who functions as a trusted partner to optometrists, colleagues, and the broader medical community.

While fellowship training in cornea, glaucoma, or anterior segment is preferred, it is not required. The defining characteristic of this role is not subspecialty labeling, but clinical maturity, consistency, and professionalism in surgical and medical decision-making.

Clinical Scope

The role emphasizes consistent outcomes, appropriate risk stratification, and clear communication across the care continuum. The surgeon will provide comprehensive anterior segment surgical care, including:

• Management of patients with coexisting ocular disease, including glaucoma and ocular surface disease
• Application of evidence-based surgical techniques with appropriate adoption of advancing technologies

Professional Expectations

Referring physicians should feel confident that patients shared into this model receive expert surgical care and thoughtful postoperative management. Surgeons in this role are expected to:

• Maintain high standards of clinical excellence and surgical integrity
• Communicate clearly and respectfully with patients, optometrists, and referring physicians
• Foster a culture of collaboration and mutual trust within a multidisciplinary team
• Support shared-care models where appropriate that prioritize patient outcomes and continuity
• Contribute positively to clinical quality initiatives and peer development

Community Engagement & Professional Presence

This position extends beyond the operating room. Successful candidates actively build and sustain a strong professional reputation through:

• Engagement with referring optometrists and medical providers
• Participation in professional meetings, education, and outreach activities
• Leadership or involvement in local, regional, or specialty organizations
• Speaking engagements, teaching, or mentorship when appropriate

The surgeon serves as both a clinical leader and ambassador for collaborative, patient-centered eye care.

• Is an experienced cataract surgeon with strong anterior segment expertise
• Demonstrates sound judgment, consistency, and professionalism in clinical practice
• Values collaboration with optometrists and shared-care partners
• Communicates effectively and earns trust through outcomes and relationships
• Seeks a long-term practice environment focused on quality, reputation, and growth
