About the role
*This is a 12-month fixed-term contract opportunity
This is an opportunity to help shape how SEEK Pass builds, operationalises and scales trusted products.
As an Assistant Operations Manager (Ops Squad Lead), you’ll play a key role in the squad’s cross-functional leadership team alongside Product and Engineering, focused on shaping the direction, defining priorities priorities and turning ambitious ideas into scalable customer outcomes. The role combines operational expertise, strategic thinking and delivery leadership to help translate customer and operational insights into initiatives that improve usability, efficiency and quality.
You'll join a small, agile squad, offering broad ownership across the product and operational lifecycle, from problem discovery and solution design through to delivery, rollout and adoption. Collaboration sits at the centre of the role, with close partnership across Product, Engineering, Analytics, Data Science, Design and Core Operations to ensure solutions are both innovative and operationally effective

What you’ll be doing
Collaborate with Product and Engineering co-leads to define and communicate the squad’s vision, roadmap and OKRs, ensuring clear alignment to subdomain and SEEK Pass priorities
Bring an operational lens to decisions, surfacing risks, dependencies and trade-offs early
Use data, operational insight and user feedback to identify opportunities, diagnose issues and inform prioritisation
Drive innovation in your space, pushing the boundaries by exploring new trends, technologies and methodologies to keep the SEEK Pass experience at the forefront of the industry
Define operational and product requirements and facilitate collaboration sessions to design practical, purpose-built solutions that enhance our verification and customer experiences
Oversee the smooth operationalisation of new product features, including planning, forecasting and monitoring operational impact, and coordinating collateral and stakeholder communications
Build and maintain strong internal customer and stakeholder relationships to enable effective delivery at pace
Work closely with Core Operations to ensure changes are operationally ready, well-supported and effective for both internal and external users
Contribute to a high-performing, inclusive squad culture and continuously improve how the team works
The Team
SEEK Pass is a cross-functional scale-up that operates as a distinct business unit in SEEK. We currently employ over ~100 people across software engineering, product, operations and growth teams in Melbourne, Sydney, Auckland and 4+ markets across Asia. This role is based in Sydney, but occasional brief travel may be required.
This role reports to the sub-domain Operations leader. While you have no direct reports, you will work closely with engineers, UX designers, operational team members as well as product teams.
qualifications
Skills and experience
Experience as a lead within a team, with a track record of influencing and collaborating effectively across multiple functions and stakeholder groups
Strong data-driven mindset, with experience defining and monitoring key operational metrics, interpreting trends and using insights to drive continuous improvement
High level of comfort with ambiguity and working in an agile, test-and-learn environment, ideally in a tech, product or start-up/scale-up context
Good high-level understanding of, or strong desire to learn, key technology concepts and how digital products are designed, built and operated in cross-functional teams
Exceptional judgement, prioritisation and decision-making skills, with the ability to focus on the critical few things that move the needle for customers and the business
Customer-focused mindset with excellent written and verbal communication skills, plus a positive, can-do attitude, resilience and ownership mentality; experience scaling operations, working with agile software teams or using data visualisation tools (e.g. Tableau, Power BI, Sisense) is highly regarded
Relevant university degree would be advantageous
