Job Summary

We are looking for a QA professional with 5-10 years of experience to ensure the quality and reliability of a modern streaming and entertainment platform.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience in functional testing, manual testing, regression testing, integration testing, API testing, web and mobile application testing, and defect management.

This role will work on products involving live TV streaming, on-demand video, cloud DVR, content discovery, user profiles, subscriptions, authentication, and multi-device experiences.

The candidate should be experienced in understanding business and technical requirements, creating detailed test scenarios and test cases, identifying defects and quality risks, and working closely with Product, Development, and other QA team members to ensure successful releases.

Key Responsibilities

• Review business and technical requirements and identify testing requirements and potential quality issues.
• Create detailed test plans, test scenarios, test cases, and test data for new features and enhancements.
• Perform functional, integration, system, regression, smoke, sanity, and end-to-end testing.
• Test critical streaming workflows including live TV, VOD, DVR/recording, content discovery, subscriptions, authentication, and user profiles.
• Test applications across web, mobile, and connected devices.
• Perform API testing using REST APIs, JSON, Postman, or similar tools.
• Validate application functionality, business rules, data accuracy, integrations, and user workflows.
• Test streaming functionality including playback, buffering, latency, audio/video synchronization, content availability, and playback failures.
• Identify, document, and track defects with clear descriptions, steps to reproduce, expected results, actual results, and supporting evidence.
• Work with Development teams to reproduce, investigate, and resolve reported issues.
• Perform defect retesting and regression testing after fixes.
• Validate new builds and releases across different environments and platforms.
• Maintain and update test documentation based on product changes.
• Participate in requirement reviews, sprint planning, backlog grooming, and other Agile ceremonies.
• Identify testing gaps and recommend improvements to overall QA processes.
• Support production releases and post-release validation of critical customer-facing functionality.
• Communicate testing progress, defects, risks, and release readiness to relevant stakeholders.
• Guide junior QA team members and support consistent testing practices across the team.

Required Qualifications & Skills

• 5-10 years of experience in Software QA / Software Testing.
• Strong hands-on experience in manual and functional testing.
• Strong understanding of test case design, test execution, regression testing, integration testing, and defect management.
• Experience testing web and mobile applications.
• Strong experience with API testing and REST APIs.
• Good understanding of HTTP, JSON, and SQL.
• Experience using defect and test management tools.
• Familiarity with tools such as Postman, Jira, or similar QA tools.
• Basic to working knowledge of test automation tools such as Selenium, Playwright, Cypress, or Appium is preferred.
• Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to understand complex application requirements and business workflows.
• Experience working in Agile/Scrum environments.
• Strong communication and documentation skills.
• Ability to independently manage QA activities for complex features and releases.

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience testing streaming, OTT, media, or entertainment applications.
• Knowledge of HLS, MPEG-DASH, fMP4, and CMAF.
• Experience testing video playback and streaming applications.
• Experience testing Roku, Fire TV, Apple TV, Android TV, Samsung TV, LG TV, or similar platforms.
• Understanding of buffering, playback failures, latency, audio/video synchronization, and content availability.
• Familiarity with cloud-based applications such as AWS.
• Experience with performance or load testing is a plus.
• Previous experience mentoring junior QA team members is a plus.
