Summary: SCS Engineers is looking for a summer 2026 Intern for their Renewable Energy division, which focuses on renewable energy design/build/operate projects. The intern will assist project teams with tasks related to biogas conversion projects and mechanical design. Responsibilities: - Gas process analysis of biogas conversion to renewable natural gas projects - Equipment selection and analysis - Mass balance review and editing - Process flow diagram review and editing - Excel calculations and editing - Process drawing edits with Bluebeam - Create, compile and organize project documentation - Review piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&ID’s) against valve, instrument, and line lists for accuracy - Process analysis for biogas utilization projects - Mechanical piping design - Mechanical equipment selection and analysis - Create, compile and organize project documentation - Start up and commissioning engineering support on site - Design drawing and 3D modeling creation, modification and checking Required Qualifications: - Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in chemical or mechanical engineering and graduating by June 2027 required - Must be willing to live in the Long Beach area for Summer 2025 (housing allowance will not be provided) - Valid driver's license with a driving record in good standing required Preferred Qualifications: - Solid technical and computer skills (AutoCAD experience preferred) - Previous leadership experience preferred Required Skills: Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, AutoCAD, Process Flow Diagram Review, Mass Balance Analysis, Gas Process Analysis, Equipment Selection, Analysis, Mechanical Piping Design, Piping, Instrumentation Diagram (P&ID) Review, 3D Modeling, Excel Benefits: Paid internship experience, Mentorship from seasoned engineers and scientists, Networking and development opportunities, Exposure to diverse engineering and science projects, A collaborative, employee-owned company culture
