Summary: Schweitzer Engineering Laboratories is seeking a professional and detail-oriented individual to join their team as a Mechanical Engineering Intern. The ideal candidate will provide support to mechanical engineering, conduct testing, and assist in design and analysis tasks while gaining valuable experience in the field. Responsibilities: - Provide support to mechanical engineering as needed - Functional/qualification test plans, testing, and test reports - Tolerance, return on investment (ROI), thermal, and structural analysis - Design of plastic, machined, sheet metal, and die cast parts - Automation enhancements through hardware specifications and/or through programming such as Python, C/C++, and other coding languages - Update SolidWorks models and drawings - Data entry of technical information into company databases (MS Office Suite, SolidWorks, Ansys) - Follow mechanical development and quality assurance procedures - Follow and apply SEL Values, Principles of Operations, and World Class Manufacturing Principles Required Qualifications: - Currently in pursuit of BS or MS in Mechanical Engineering with two years engineering education completed - Able to conduct defined testing procedures - Strong problem-solving skills - Working knowledge of MS Office Applications or equivalent - At least one year SolidWorks Experience (or equivalent CAD software) - Strong writing, documentation, and speaking skills - Able to learn new skills and assume new responsibilities - Able to work cooperatively in a team environment - Background check results satisfactory to SEL - Negative drug test result(s) Required Skills: Mechanical Engineering, SolidWorks, Python Important Skills: C/C++, Ansys Nice-to-Have Skills: MS Office, Problem-solving, Teamwork, Communication skills, Documentation Benefits: Wellness resources, Community connection, Kickstarting retirement savings
