Licensed Veterinary Technician at Schultz… · Okemos
Job Description
Licensed Veterinary Technician (LVT)
Are you a Licensed Veterinary Technician who enjoys surgery, anesthesia, and providing hands-on care to hospitalized patients? At Schultz Veterinary Clinic, we believe our LVTs should be able to use the skills they worked hard to develop in school. If you're looking for a practice where technicians are valued and utilized to their fullest capabilities, we'd love to meet you!
Located in beautiful Okemos, near Michigan State University, Schultz Veterinary Clinic is a full-service small-animal hospital serving the greater Lansing area. Our four-doctor team provides comprehensive care for dogs and cats, along with specialized canine reproductive services supported by dedicated reproduction staff.
We are proud to be AAHA-accredited and committed to high-quality medicine, low-stress handling, and compassionate care for our patients and clients. With a 4.8-star Google rating, we strive to provide an exceptional experience for our patients, clients, and team.
What Makes Schultz Veterinary Clinic Special?
- Use your technical skills: Our LVTs are utilized to their fullest capabilities, with opportunities to participate in surgery, anesthesia, inpatient care, and outpatient treatments.
- Surgical opportunities: Assist with soft tissue surgeries and C-sections while supporting patients throughout their perioperative care.
- Modern diagnostic equipment: Work with our brand-new ultrasound, in-house laboratory equipment, blood testing, and radiology services.
- Advanced technology: Gain experience with the surgical laser.
- Specialized canine reproduction: Be part of a hospital offering canine reproductive services with dedicated staff supporting this specialty. This is one of the many services we offer.
- Low-stress patient care: Help create a calmer, more comfortable experience for our patients through low-stress handling techniques.
- Technology that supports your work: We use Cornerstone practice management software, Zoetis for in-house laboratory testing, and Antech as our reference laboratory.
What We're Looking For
- A current Licensed Veterinary Technician credential in Michigan.
- An interest in surgery, anesthesia, and inpatient/outpatient patient care.
- Strong technical, communication, and teamwork skills.
- A commitment to patient safety, compassionate care, and high-quality medicine.
- Someone who enjoys being hands-on and wants to make full use of their LVT training.
Schedule & Compensation
- Full-time position
- Tentative Monday–Friday schedule, with one weekday off.
- Rotating Saturday Urgent Care shifts from 8:00 AM–1:00 PM.
- $23–$26 per hour, depending on experience and qualifications.
- Additional $3 per hour for Urgent Care shifts.
A Team That Truly Cares
Our doctors personally reach out to clients after every surgery to check on their pets, reflecting the level of care and personal attention we strive to provide. While coordinating everyone's schedules for group activities can be challenging, team members build meaningful relationships both inside and outside the hospital. Periodically our leadership team enjoys bringing in lunch and treating the team to coffee as ways to show appreciation.
Our clinic is located in a beautiful area near MSU, and we believe in creating an environment where veterinary professionals can grow, contribute, and feel proud of the work they do.
Ready to put your LVT skills to work in a practice that values your abilities? We'd love to hear from you!
