Job Description
Summary: Schroders Personal Wealth aims to improve financial advice accessibility and effectiveness. They are seeking a Business Insights Analyst to turn data into actionable insights through Power BI reports, focusing on stakeholder engagement and data analysis.
Responsibilities:
- Design build and update Power BI reports that help stakeholders monitor performance
- Identify trends or patterns and summarise what they may mean for the business
- Support Business Insights Manager by gathering, checking, and interpreting data for insight work
- Work with frontline teams to understand their reporting questions and information needs and adapt reporting designs to suit their needs
- Provide clear explanations and guidance on how to use dashboards effectively
- Build knowledge of business processes, KPIs, and how different teams use data
- Assist in creating and updating Power BI dashboards
- Support the development of simple data models and DAX measures
- Ensure visuals are clear, accurate, and follow internal standards
- Write and maintain basic SQL queries under guidance
- Help create and update tables or views used for reporting
- Perform data checks to ensure completeness and accuracy
- Continuously build knowledge of Power BI, DAX, and SQL
- Learn the business’s data landscape, metrics, and reporting processes
- Keep up to date with best practices in data visualisation and analysis
Required Qualifications:
- Basic understanding of Power BI (or similar BI tools)
- Foundational SQL knowledge (select queries, joins)
- Good Excel skills and general comfort working with data
- Comfortable speaking with stakeholders and asking clarifying questions
- Strong interest in understanding how the business works
- Strong attention to detail and willingness to investigate data issues
- Ability to interpret data and communicate findings simply
- Curious, proactive approach to learning new tools and techniques
- Good organisation skills and ability to manage multiple tasks
- Some experience working with data (e.g., coursework, internship, or early career role)
- Experience presenting information to stakeholders and explaining data in a clear, accessible way
Preferred Qualifications:
- Exposure to DAX or Power Query
- Any experience with databases or data modelling concepts
- Experience using Power BI or SQL in any capacity is helpful but not essential
- Degree in Data Analytics, Business, Computer Science, or related field — or equivalent experience
- Interest in working toward certifications such as PL300 (Power BI)
