Summary: Lexington Public Schools, serving the Bowman Elementary School community, is seeking a part-time School Support Personnel K-5 employee. The role provides routine clerical, classroom assistance, student supervision, office support, and related school duties while working with teachers, administrators, students, and visitors.
Responsibilities:
- Assist teachers and administrators with clerical duties
- Provide classroom coverage when necessary
- Assist teachers in preparation of class materials
- Monitor recess
- Monitor cafeteria
- Perform crosswalk, arrival and dismissal duties
- Maintain supplies
- Maintain photo copy equipment
- Perform copying and laminating duties
- Answer phones, make phone calls
- May greet visitors
- Perform a variety of related duties
Required Qualifications:
- High school diploma or equivalent and one year of experience in administrative, clerical, financial or secretarial work, preferably in a school environment, working with children; or any equivalent combination of education, training, certification and experience
- Must have knowledge of office management principles and practices, and computer systems, word processing and photocopying
- Knowledge of child development
- Ability to establish and maintain effective and harmonious working relationships with the public, officials and department personnel; ability to work independently in an efficient manner; ability to communicate effectively; ability to maintain a record keeping systems; ability to operate a telephone and standard office equipment; ability to manage multiple tasks in an efficient manner; ability to deal tactfully with disgruntled people
- Skill in operating computers and applicable word processing; excellent customer service skills
- Must have skill in dealing with children

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to sit and talk or hear
- The employee is occasionally required to walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel objects, tools, or controls; and reach with hands or arms
