| Air Traffic Service |
- Control air traffic with Area of responsibility safely & expeditiously
- Organize flight plans and traffic management plans to prepare for planes about to enter assigned airspace.
- Provide information to air traffic, weather updates, significant information and other critical information
- Alert organization in the event of an aircraft emergency
- Check conditions and traffic at different altitudes in response to pilots' requests for altitude changes.
- Exchange the transfer of aircraft movement information between positions, sectors, and units,
- Correlate aircraft movement data between Sectors, Units, and relevant agencies
- Provide Area Control Service to IFR and VFR aircraft operating in the airspace for which he is responsible in accordance with the procedures detailed in ATSP Part-2.
- Provide Surveillance Service to all identified aircraft within the area of surveillance coverage for which he is responsible.
- Provide navigational assistance to and on track monitoring for all identified aircraft under his control.
- Provide vectors and assign altitudes or FL as required to aircraft to ensure separation from other aircraft, known weather disturbances and Prohibited, Restricted, Danger, or active Military Areas.
- Ensure that surveillance separated aircraft are given appropriate non-surveillance separation prior to their entry into an area with no surveillance coverage.

| Co-ordination Activities |
- Coordinate the control of aircrafts operating within one or more sectors
- Perform, as required, the appropriate coordination duties with the other relevant ATC Sectors, Units and adjacent FIR.
- Advise the Shift Supervisor of the work trends & issues
- Post and update Flight Data Strips (paper or electronic strips)
- Perform Surveillance Hand-off, as required to/from adjacent surveillance sectors.

| Communication |
- Communicate effectively with air traffic.
- Inform adjacent FIRs, Sectors, or Facilities of changes in navigational aid status, unusual weather, or of traffic situations,
- Advise the Shift Supervisor of any unserviceable equipment, changing weather conditions, emergencies, and any other abnormal situations
- Advise the Shift Supervisor as soon as he becomes aware that traffic has or will increase to a level where he needs the assistance of another controller to sustain a safe operation

| Policies, Processes and Procedures |
- Exercise best judgment and initiative in handling unusual situations not specifically covered in any official document.
- When working in a position without a Planning Controller, perform, as required, the appropriate coordination duties with the other relevant ATC Sectors or Units.
- At the beginning of each shift, and at any other such time as deemed necessary, align and set up the situation display and then check to see if the surveillance performance is satisfactory.
- Provide VFR aircraft, where possible and traffic permitting, with surveillance traffic advisories, and if appropriate, navigational assistance.
- Safely convert surveillance separated traffic into non-surveillance separated traffic, should the surveillance system become unserviceable.
- Sign ‘On’ and ‘Off’ in the Position Log.
- Conduct day-to-day activities while ensuring compliance to policies and procedures
- Ensuring his ATCO certificate, including the appropriate rating (and any rating endorsement); English language endorsement; unit endorsement(s); medical certificate and an up-to-date competence assessment is valid before providing air traffic control services;
- Meeting the minimum number of operational duty hours required to maintain the unit endorsement(s) validity;
- Ensuring he is fully fit to provide ATC services and is not suffering from any form of fatigue, stress or illness, and is not under the influence of psychoactive substances which could jeopardize the provision of ATC services.
