Job Description
Summary: Sargent & Lundy is seeking a Substation Engineer Intern for the summer of 2026. In this role, you will assist the engineering team in project work related to the design and modifications of electrical power systems, including substations and renewable energy projects.
Responsibilities:
- Assist in the preparation of engineering calculations, specifications, and designs
- Work on a variety of tasks associated with project reporting, such as tracking and evaluating project activities, project progress, and associated data
- Be involved in power designs and the preparation of specifications for the procurement of major electrical power equipment and related installation services
Required Qualifications:
- An expected graduation date in Fall 2026, Spring 2027, Fall 2027, or Spring 2028 with a Bachelor of Science engineering degree with a strong preference in an Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace or Chemical Engineering degree, and/or coursework including Coding, 3D Modeling/Design, and experience using agentic AI
- Strong organizational skills with high attention to detail
- Self-starter, proactive, and able to work independently with minimal direction
- Ability to quickly identify and prioritize issues, create solutions, and meet deadlines
Preferred Qualifications:
- Enrollment in a BSEE, MSEE, or equivalent degree from an ABET accredited engineering program
- Familiarity in designing or developing AI applications and/or agents
- Demonstrated leadership experience within campus and/or the community
- Minimum of a 3.0 GPA strongly preferred
- Prior, related internship or co-op experience
- A strong academic background and coursework in electrical power
