Job Description
Summary: Sarasota County Government is dedicated to providing students with an unsurpassed learning experience in public sector employment. As a Claims Intern, you'll support insurance adjusters by processing and managing insurance claims while gaining hands-on experience in a professional environment.
Responsibilities:
- Data Entry and File Maintenance: Creating new claim records, updating systems with accurate information, and scanning documents
- Investigation Assistance: Help with initial claim assessments, research, and verifying facts
- Communication: Work with departments to obtain claim documentation
- Documentation Management: Reviewing claims forms for completeness, gathering necessary documents (police reports), and organizing files
- Support Adjusters: Assisting claims adjusters by setting up files, researching information, and occasionally processing small, straightforward claims
- Collaborate with your department colleagues to make and influence real changes
- A presentation to the County Administrator and other County Leadership staff is required at the close of the internship program on Friday, August 7, 2026
- Participate in all organized intern events and trainings
Required Qualifications:
- Ages 16-17 with parental consent, or 18 and above
- Eligible to work in the United States – we love local, national, and international students!
- Active, enrolled student
- High School degree or equivalent
Preferred Qualifications:
- Enrolled in college or university at least in junior year or above in Health Informatics, Data Analytics/Strategy or Data Science degree, Risk & Insurance Management or Risk Analyst type of degree
- Business, Finance, Statistics, Public Administration, or Computer Science
