Job Description
Summary: Santander is a global leader and innovator in the financial services industry, evolving into a technology-driven organization. The Analyst, Underwriting & Portfolio Management is responsible for assisting Underwriters in analyzing and processing loans, while overseeing credit quality and coordinating approvals within the Financial Institutions portfolio.
Responsibilities:
- Conduct detailed credit analysis and risk assessments for FI clients in the assigned portfolio with a primary focus on structure, documentation and financial analysis on the client
- Participate in due diligence calls
- Prepare written risk opinions and analysis
- Work with bankers on a regular basis and build strong relationships
- Apply credit policy and risk management standards, procedures and processes for the credit risk management of clients
- Articulate a convincing case in support of the risk opinion
- Prepare various portfolio analytical reports and presentations; stay connected with industry trends and macro issues which may impact the portfolio
- Understand and use internal tools, methodologies and rating models used for underwriting and monitoring
Required Qualifications:
- Bachelor's Degree or equivalent work experience: Finance, Accounting, Management, Economics or equivalent field
- 1+ years of related experience and/or training
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills
- Strong analytical skills and proficient with financial statements
- Ability to work in a fast paced environment with little supervision
- Ability to work well with others and on teams
- Demonstrated proficiency in Microsoft Office, including Word, Excel and PowerPoint
- Demonstrates strong judgment and sound credit skills
- Knowledge of Federal banking regulations
Preferred Qualifications:
- Established work history or equivalent demonstrated through a combination of work experience, training, military service, or education
- Experience in Microsoft Office products
